The four Man City players Pep Guardiola will be without for clash vs Chelsea and Frank Lampard

Chelsea's first home game of the Premier League restart is a big one.

They face reigning champions Manchester City on Thursday evening and can take another big step towards securing a top-four finish with victory over Pep Guardiola's side.

Frank Lampard's side may have already been given an indication that the Spaniard will rotate his squad with an FA Cup quarter-final on the horizon against Newcastle United.

One City player who will miss the game inn SW6 is Sergio Aguero.

The striker limped out of City's 5-0 win over Burnley on Monday night shortly before half-time and it has since been confirmed that he is to undergo surgery in Barcelona.

"Tomorrow we will do a surgery in Barcelona with Dr Cugat," Guardiola told reporters. "After that we don't know when he will come back and join us.

"After the surgery [we will know more]. He will tell us with more accuracy when he can come back."

In terms of replacements for Aguero, Guardiola could have a trick up his sleeve ahead of the meeting at Stamford Bridge.

"We don’t have any doubts about Gabriel [Jesus]," he added. "Only doubt we have is that not one single player with the preparation we had can play every game.

"No one player can play 90 minutes every three days. Raheem can play in this position, even Gundogan can.

"We have different options. Not a striker, but we have other options."

As a result, Aguero joins Claudio Bravo, Eric Garcia and John Stones on the sidelines as the quartet will watch events from west London unfold from home.

"He is on the pitch training and getting better," Guardiola said of Stones.

"Hopefully in the next few days he can play in the team."
