The four key decisions Unai Emery must make vs Eintracht Frankfurt to ease Arsenal fan pressure

Unai Emery's plea to Arsenal supporters appears to have fallen on deaf ears.

The under pressure Gunners head coach spoke about the importance of fans creating a "big atmosphere" at the Emirates Stadium tonight for the penultimate Europa League group game against Eintracht Frankfurt.

"They are angry and disappointed, as well we are," Emery told reporters on Wednesday afternoon."Tomorrow we have a very good opportunity to change that.

"My idea is to create a big atmosphere in the Emirates with every supporter.

"Each match here in the Emirates is very important for that, we need their support.

"The players more than me, they are playing and on the pitch, they need to feel backing them."

Instead there could be a rather hostile atmosphere inside the ground for what is shaping up to be the lowest ever recorded attendance at the Emirates Stadium, beating the 25,909 total set against BATE Borisov in the 2017/18 Europa League campaign.

Although, the ban on away fans and restrictions on the amount of tickets that are able to be sold will also have an affect.

It has been reported that some Arsenal fans are planning a protest against Emery tonight, with a message being sent to Head of Football Raul Sanllehi that it's time for another managerial change.

Whilst that could very well be the case, football does have it ways of creating surprise situations.

It sounds highly unlikely, but there is a way for Emery to get those Arsenal fans who have turned against him back on board - even if it's just for 90 minutes.

His team selection will be crucial.

During Sky Sports' Monday Night Football show it was highlighted by Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher that Emery has "created confusion" at Arsenal with his constant changing of players and formation.

That's a feeling reflected by a number of supporters. For example there was widespread shock across social media at the starting line-up vs Southampton at the weekend as Emery opted for a back five against a team with a poor defensive record.

Those are the sort of decisions which has seen fans lose confidence in the Spaniard.

But he can at least win some back...for the time being.

Granted, Emery is kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place given the Gunners only need a point to qualify and have a huge Premier League game away at Norwich City on Sunday afternoon.

With that said, he desperately needs a win and it would be a good idea to name a strong team.

Unai Emery on his future

football.london have reported that whilst no decision from the Arsenal hierarchy is imminent, Emery is fast running out of allies at the Emirates and such are the doubts regarding his ability to turn things around, it is increasingly a matter of when, not if, Emery loses his job.

If that's the case and tonight turns out to be his final home game in charge, why not go out on a high?

Revert back to a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 system, drop under-performers such as Sokratis and David Luiz, avoid setting up defensively and let the youngsters bring back the feel-good factor from the beginning of the season.

Should Emery name a positive starting line-up, he could very well be a popular man inside the Emirates Stadium - well at least until the final whistle blows.
