The four Chelsea stars nominated for 2020 Golden Boy award as target Jadon Sancho included

Chelsea are finally making full use of their academy following the appointment of Frank Lampard as head coach.

Youngsters had previously come through the system at Stamford Bridge but often moved on elsewhere with very little opportunities to play first-team football in west London.

However, that's all changed now with Lampard making a triumphant return to SW6.

Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori, Mason Mount and Reece James have all been given an opportunity to play Premier League football this season and the quartet have taken it with both hands.

Chelsea fans shouldn't worry about Timo Werner transfer

Lampard is now building a team for the future in the capital and the club's academy players are going to have a key role over the coming years.

Billy Gilmour is another who has made the step up this season after playing in seven games.

The Scot has wowed supporters in his time on the pitch and he has been nominated for the prestigious 2020 Golden Boy award as a result.

Gilmour isn't the only Chelsea player to make the 100-man longlist as three of his Blues teammates have also been included.

Tino Anjorin, who last week committed his long-term future to the club, is joined by Ethan Ampadu and Callum Hudson-Odoi on the list.

Ampadu is currently on loan at RB Leipzig but has only played in seven games for the German side this season, with Hudson-Odoi struggling to find his best form at Chelsea after a stunning breakthrough campaign in 2018/19.

The Chelsea quartet have plenty of competition for the top award as Borussia Dortmund duo Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland are on the list which was revealed by Italian newspaper Tuttosport.

Another contender for the prize will be Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies after an excellent season at the Allianz Arena.

The award, which has been running since 2003, involves journalists voting for the best top-flight player aged 21 or under in Europe across the calendar year.
