They help scores of veterans on civvy street when leaving the forces gets tough.
And now the organisation that makes this all happen has reached new heights after it was founded over a year ago by Troubles veteran Ger Fowler.
Veterans in Crisis offers a range of services to veterans including helping veterans such as therapy and providing emergency accommodation. It also helps ex forces personnel to move into new homes and so far it has managed to move over 50 veterans.
The organisation has been nominated for a Chronicle Champions Award and Ger says he’s “over the moon".

"I would like to thank everyone, members of the public and anybody who helps out," added Ger, 48, of Southwick, Sunderland.
Reflecting on how it had come about, Ger said: "When I started I only had a £10 pay as you go phone. I now have 127 clients and operate out of a four-storey building.
"Veterans in Crisis, is a community interest company, that means it's a not for profit organisation so we work only for the community.
"We receive no funding from the council, we are completely reliant on donations"
Ger helps veterans registered with doctors in Sunderland. However, Ger will always try to help anybody who asks and has links to other veteran's charities both in the region and nationally.

Ger also intends on opening a new training centre which will teach everything from basic English and Maths to construction.
Nominating the organisation, Liz Jenkins, 51, from East Boldon, and a Trustee with North East Homeless said: “This group of volunteers are amazing. They give support to ex service men and women, helping them overcome any issues that they may have".
She added: “People who I have recommended them to tell me that the service is good, really friendly and really down to Earth".
Ger has garnished the support of England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and Geordie Shore's Charlotte Crosby who have both worn a Veterans in Crisis shirt.
Veterans in Crisis is nominated in the Armed Forces Champions category. This is to recognise extraordinary achievements by men or women of our armed forces and any individuals who have dedicated time and effort to help those who serve or have served for our country.
