Former Tottenham Hotspur keeper Paul Robinson has the best record for keeping out goals of any England goalkeeper.
Ahead of England’s 1,000th game tomorrow (Thursday), football.london have been crunching the numbers to find out who has been the Three Lions’ best ever keeper.
A lot of people will instinctively say that it’s Gordon Banks, the man who won the World Cup and pulled off that save against Pelé.
However, when it comes to goals conceded records, it’s the former Spurs man who comes out on top.
Robinson won 41 caps for England, 37 of them while at Tottenham, conceding 22 goals. England conceded a goal once every 151 minutes on average when Robinson was in net according to englandfootballonline.com .
That’s a longer average than with any other keeper to have won at least 20 England caps.
David Seaman has the next best record with one goal every 149 minutes, followed by Chris Woods at one every 137 minutes and then Joe Hart and Peter Shilton at one every 134 minutes.
