The former Crystal Palace star who was 'phenomenal' to work with, according to Eagles legend

John Salako has heaped praise on two of the players he worked with during his time as Crystal Palace coach.

The former Palace winger joined Alan Pardew's coaching staff in 2015 as first team coach, with Salako working at the club during the course of the 2015/16 season when the Eagles reached the FA Cup final.

Salako has spoken of how much he enjoyed his time working with Palace, while he has also opened up on his exit and Pardew's message to him following the end of the 2015/16 season.

Meanwhile, he has pinpointed what made the job so enjoyable, highlighting a couple of players in his own position from his playing days as ones.

Who's played the most Premier League minutes?

“I loved it, I absolutely loved it," he said, speaking to Rob McCaffrey in an interview with Switchbox TV in conjunction with the Old Footballers' Club.

“Especially staying in the top flight and getting to a cup final, and working with the likes of [Wilfried] Zaha and players like that day in day out, it was a blessing really.

“I mean [Yannick] Bolasie too was phenomenal, and I miss that.”

Zaha is still at the club, with the Ivory Coast international becoming the Eagles' record goalscorer in the Premier League, while Bolasie left the club in 2016 to join Everton.

Since leaving Palace in a deal worth up to £30 million, he has played 32 times for the Toffees, with Bolasie sustaining a serious knee injury in December 2016.

He has also had loan spells at Aston Villa, Anderlecht and Sporting Lisbon.

This season, Bolasie has scored two goals in 22 appearances for the Portuguese Primeira Liga side.
