The football that Tom Brady threw on his first touchdown pass is up for auction, and is going for a remarkable price. Thrown to Terry Glenn on October 14, 2001, the ball itself currently has a bid of $91,163 at the time of this writing.
Brady threw the ball in the stands, so the quarterback never got the ball. The seller of the ball is a Patriots season ticket holder who has been a season ticket holder since 1992.
Lelands, the website selling the football, was able to use a technique called “photo matching.” This gave them the opportunity to identify markings on the football which gave credence to the fact that it was the same football thrown that day.
That game itself was memorable for Brady, as it would be the first time he would throw for over 300 yards. The Patriots would go on to win that game by a 29-26 margin.
It will be interesting to see how high the bid will go to obtain this football. It just goes to show that made you can put a price on history after all.
