Kiko Casilla and Leeds United await next stage of The FA's disciplinary process as deadline nears

Charged with racially abusing Jonathan Leko, Leeds United’s Kiko Casilla has until tomorrow to respond to the allegation.

The Whites goalkeeper is accused of using abusive and/or insulting words towards a Charlton Athletic player, named by the Addicks as Leko.

In July, The Football Association raised the minimum punishment for racist abuse from a five-match to a six-match ban.

Thus far, the Whites have acknowledged the charge, but will also have until November 12 for their response to the charge, which Casilla has strenuously denied up to now.

In a statement, The FA said: “Kiko Casilla has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3.

“It is alleged that, contrary to Rule E3(1), the Leeds United goalkeeper used abusive and/or insulting words towards a Charlton Athletic player during an EFL Championship fixture on 28 September 2019.

“It is further alleged that the words constitute an ‘Aggravated Breach’, which is defined in Rule E3(2), as they made reference to race and/or colour and/or ethnic origin.

“Kiko Casilla has until 12 November 2019 to provide a response.”
