The flat Swansea City player ratings as attack struggles in Birmingham City defeat

BEN HAMER - Star Man 7

Didn't actually have a save to make in the first half and was largely good when playing out from the back. Great save to thwart Scott Hogan in the second half and brilliantly denied Tahith Chong too. So unlucky with Birmingham's winner after a great initial stop.

RYAN BENNETT 6

Helped to combat the aerial threat of Lee Bowyer's side and looked good when carrying the ball forwards.

KYLE NAUGHTON 6

Made a few timely clearances and mixed things up well when it came to getting Swansea up the pitch.

RYAN MANNING 6

Fairly comfortable in the first half without doing anything particularly noteworthy. Superb assist for Michael Obafemi to equalise though.

ETHAN LAIRD 6

The Manchester United loanee twisted George Friend and Kristian Pedersen inside and out at times with his direct running and pace. End product wasn't there, but it wasn't for a lack of trying.

KOREY SMITH 5

Operating in a deeper role due to the absence of Flynn Downes, Smith didn't really have much to do other than help shift the ball around.

MATT GRIMES 6

The captain was very good on the ball aside from a loose pass in the opening 10 minutes. A couple of good defensive interventions, but couldn't have the killer impact in the final third.

JOEL LATIBEAUDIERE 5

Grew in stature as the first half wore on, although his final delivery wasn't quite up to scratch which is understandable given his lack of game time and positional switch. Pretty quiet in attack in the second half after a period on the left.

OLIVIER NTCHAM 5

The Frenchman protected the ball so well on numerous occasions but didn't have the spark needed in the final third. Looked a tad rusty given his injury struggles as was subbed.

JAMIE PATERSON 5

The attacker was quiet in the first half and didn't really give the Blues much to worry about. A couple of flashes in the second half that didn't really materialise into anything positive.

JOEL PIROE 5

As has often been the case this term, Piroe had very few touches in the opening half and didn't get a sniff in front of goal. Same after the restart before he was subbed.

Subs

Michael Obafemi (for Smith) - After scuffing a shot wide, the striker took his goal remarkably well to get Swansea back into it. Encouraging cameo. 7

Liam Walsh (for Ntcham) - Got into dangerous areas and drilled over from the edge of the box. 6

Liam Cullen (for Piroe) - Didn't really get much in the way of chances after being sent on late on. 6
