Glasgow and Edinburgh will be used to recreate Gotham City once again in upcoming superhero movie The Flash.
The film, which stars Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as different versions of Batman, has been filming in London recently.
But a source told the Sunday Mail that the production will also pay visits north of the border, specifically to Scotland’s largest city, and its capital too, in June.
It is understood that the two locations will be used to recreate scenes from Tim Burton’s Batman, which will appear in flashbacks.
Keaton played the Dark Knight role in Burton’s two movies, in 1989 and 1992, and at 69 years old will be the oldest Batman to date.
The Flash is thought to be based around 2011 comic series Flashpoint, in which Barry Allen tries to travel back in time to prevent his mother’s death.
The source told the Sunday paper: “It’s really exciting for DC Comic fans that film crews will be back in town. It’s great news for Glasgow and Edinburgh that once again the outstanding architecture will be showcased in such a big film.”
Of course, it’s not the first time Glasgow has played host to the Caped Crusader - with scenes for The Batman, the upcoming Robert Pattinson version, filmed across the city last year.
In fact, just this week we spotted the Glasgow Necropolis in new leaked footage for the film, due for release in March 2022.
And there’s more good news for the Scottish film industry, because Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford will be filming the latest movie in the hit franchise in the Highlands later this year.
So, will we see Harrison, Ben or Michael kicking around Glasgow between scenes? Watch this space!
Regardless, we can’t wait to see Glasgow double for Gotham once again on the big screen.
