The five words Watford striker Troy Deeney used to describe Arsenal star Bukayo Saka

Watford striker Troy Deeney has spoken of his respect for Arsenal - and one player in particular.

The Hornets forward has riled Arsenal fans in the past with his comments about the Gunners, after he accused Arsene Wenger's side of "lacking cojones" after Watford came from behind to beat them 2-1 at Vicarage Road back in October 2017.

Ever since then, Deeney has represented something of a pantomime villain for Gunners fans.

But in an interview with  Manchester United  fan channel  The United Stand, Deeney says he was only calling the situation as he saw it.

And the Watford frontman has heaped praise on Arsenal left-back Bukayo Saka, who he has hailed as a "proper player" after the youngster's impressive form for the Gunners this season, having established himself as a left-back in Mikel Arteta's side.

"Arsenal people hate me but it is what it is," he said.

"I’m literally going, ‘my opinion on it is this, this and this’ and they would go, ‘yeah, I can see that’. Even when Arsenal are good I’ll be like, ‘my man was sick, you know’.

"[Bukayo] Saka at left-back, he is a proper player.

"I’m not just going, ‘oh, you lost, haha’. Bro, Watford lose more than most."
