The five counties at biggest risk of next local lockdown, according to 14 day incidence rates

Dublin, Kildare, Tipperary, Carlow and Limerick are the five counties with the highest 14-day incidence rates in Ireland.

All five have rates higher than 50 per 100,000 people over the last two weeks, up until midnight August 1.

At the moment none are being considered for a local lockdown but could see similar measures to Laois, Offaly and Kildare (again) did recently.

Kildare, which emerged from lockdown last week, still has the highest incidence rate in the country at 81.8.

Tipperary follows with 66.6 after recent outbreaks at factories and a number of clusters in the area.

Carlow, which previously has had a great coronavirus record, now has an incidence rate of 66.

Dublin's now stands at 53.2 after a recent surge while Limerick has a rate of 55.2.

The Department of Health has not said at what figure a lockdown would be considered, with Kildare's rate well above 100 when the decision was taken there.

Taoiseach says Gov't wants to try and avoid lockdown but 'danger always there'

Sligo has the lowest rate in Ireland at 1.5, while just six counties have a figure less than 10 - Cork, Galway, Kerry, Leitrim and Mayo.

Below is a table of all incidence rates for the Republic of Ireland up until midnight, September 1.
