The four Chelsea players who must be sold to boost Frank Lampard's summer transfer budget

Chelsea may now have a bit more unexpected time on their hands.

The Blues were expecting to be in action against Aston Villa this weekend, but Friday's announcement that all game in the Premier League and FA Cup means that Frank Lampard's men won't be in action until at least the weekend of April 4th.

The announcement came after the coronavirus outbreak in the UK, with Chelsea revealing that Callum Hudson-Odoi had tested positive for the virus alongside Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta.

The extra time though could prove to be useful as Lampard looks to plan for the summer transfer window. The Blues' boss has already bought in Hakim Ziyech but is likely to want to add more to his squad.

But there also could be outgoings that could be useful in providing a little bit of extra cash for Lampard.

So we take a look into the players who could be sold to free up some funds for new signings.

Emerson Palmieri

In recent weeks, Lampard has gone for Azpilicueta at left-back and Emerson has been out of the team.

And even when the head coach has gone for three at the back it has been Alonso who has been picked. Emerson's last appearance in the Premier League came in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal back in January, and he only been included in the match day squad once since then

Lampard wants to bring in a new left-back this summer, with Ben Chilwell heavily linked, and if that happens then Emerson looks likely to be heading out of Stamford Bridge.

Kurt Zouma

Chelsea have a plethora of centre-backs at their disposal.

Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori were the favoured pair at the start of the campaign, but since Antonio Rudiger's return from injury, the German has been partnered with Andreas Christensen, with Zouma and Tomori struggling for game time.

Zouma has shown on occasion he is more than capable of holding down a role in a Premier League defence, having enjoyed a loan spell with Everton last season too.

And if the Blues can get some money for him, then it might be worth selling up.

Ross Barkley

Perhaps the most intriguing case on the list.

He has shown in glimpses just what kind of player he can be and how big an asset he can be, and has impressed in recent weeks.

But it just does not come to the fore often enough and it really does seem that he will not have a long-term future with the Blues.

A shame that it hasn't really worked out, but it might be time for Chelsea to cut their losses and they should still get a decent amount for him and his departure could be key in balancing the books at Stamford Bridge.

Michy Batshuayi

Belgian was thought to be the second choice striker behind Tammy Abraham.

But he has struggled to find the back of the net when called upon and has now slipped behind Olivier Giroud in the pecking order, with the Frenchman being preferred to Batshuayi in recent games,

Giroud is expected to leave the club on a free in the summer, which would move Batshuayi up the order...until a new striker is signed.

The best thing for him would be to find pastures new.
