The five Chelsea players Paul Ince named in his combined XI with Man City - with no Jorginho

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince has named five Chelsea player in his combined XI with Manchester City.

The Blues head to the Etihad Stadium ahead of the Premier League champions following a run of six straight Premier League wins.

However, Frank Lampard's Chelsea side will come up against their toughest test during this hot run of form when they take on the reigning league champions.

Pep Guardiola's side will be licking their wounds after falling nine points behind league-leaders Liverpool with a 3-1 defeat at Anfield prior to the international break.

City's defensive frailties were once again exposed as John Stones and Fernandinho were helpless to prevent Liverpool's front three running wild.

With that in mind, former United and England star Ince has named both of Chelsea's centre-back ahead of City's options.

Ince was asked to select a combined City/Chelsea XI, based on those fit to play in the weekend's game.

Given Aymeric Laporte's and Antonio Rudiger's injuries, he selected Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori at the heart of his defence.

Benjamin Mendy and Kyle Walker make up the back four, with Ederson selected ahead of Kepa Arrizibalaga in goal.

There is a strong Chelsea contingent in midfield too, with Mason Mount controversially selected ahead of David Silva in the engine room.

The Englishman has impressed this season and scored his first international goal on Sunday during their 4-0 win over Kosovo.

He lines up alongside teammate and World Cup winner N'Golo Kante, with Kevin de Bruyne making up the three-man midfield.

City stars Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling both start in attack, with the in-form Tammy Abraham missing out.

However, the right-wing spot was handed to Willian, who has been in tremendous form for Lampard this season.

With Leroy Sane and Bernardo Silva both absent for the weekend, it was a straight toss-up between the Brazilian and Riyad Mahrez for a starting berth.

The team selections have had some great reaction on social media and the split of 6/5 in City's favour was something that seemed unimaginable for Chelsea fans at the start of the season.
