The five areas in the Bristol region with the lowest number of covid cases

Five neighbourhoods in the Bristol region recorded fewer than three coronavirus cases in recent days, latest government figures show.

The map - which charts the spreads of coronavirus - suppressed the data for one area in Bristol, one in South Gloucestershire and three in North Somerset, meaning they recorded fewer than three cases in the seven days to December 4.

The data shows the number of neighbourhoods to record such low number of cases is increasing, with the previous data set showing all South Gloucestershire areas had recorded at least three cases.

In Bristol, Crews Hole again recorded fewer than three cases while, in South Gloucestershire, Chipping Sodbury had its data suppresed.

In North Somerset, Nailsea East recorded fewer than three cases, together with Pill & Easton and Backwell & Flax Bourton.

In comparison, there are 19 areas in the region with a case rate above 200 -placing them in the second highest category in the government map.

But there are now many places in and around Bristol which have a case rate of below 100 per 100,000 people.

Listed in ascending order, they are:

Where is the data coming from?

You can see the latest national data on the government's website.

The map displays weekly data, which are updated everyday.

The data can be viewed by local authority but also by smaller sections called 'Middle Super Output Areas'.

The map highlights which areas of the nation have three or more confirmed cases of the virus and colour co-coordinates the areas by how many cases they have.
