The first two lockdown changes of May and the 13 restrictions lifted just days later

With the month of May finally upon us the country can finally look forward to the easing of Covid-19 restrictions throughout the month.

Taoiseach Micheal Martin last week confirmed a raft of restrictions were set to be eased in the coming weeks in a much boost to the nation.

However he and fellow Government Ministers have said that the summer plan will be altered or delayed should Covid figures cause more concern.

But for now the country is set to move ahead with the easing of the first lockdown restrictions starting from tomorrow.

As of Tuesday May 4 the construction sector will finally return in full. Meanwhile predominantly outdoor workers such as window cleaners, and maintenance workers can also return.

While the first changes are quite moderate a raft of major changes to current lockdown measures will take effect just days later with May 10 earmarked as a key date for the first measures being lifted.

From May 10 the intercounty travel ban will be lifted while people will be permitted to have visitors in their garden from a maximum of 3 households or 6 people from any number of households.

Outdoor gatherings of 15 people are also permitted.

In a boost for shoppers click and collect, in-store by appointment only, and outdoor retail can resume.

Personal services such as barbers and hairdressers can reopen for customers with appointments only.

Galleries, libraries and museums can all reopen again.

A total of 50 mourners will be permitted to attend funerals while a maximum 50 guests are allowed to attend a wedding service with maximum 6 guests at indoor reception or 15 outdoors.

Public transport will run at 50 percent capacity while property viewings can go ahead once again by appointment.

You can travel between counties in Ireland to your stationary mobile home or caravan if you are the owner of the mobile home or caravan.

May 10 will also see people who are vaccinated reap the rewards of the so-called 'vaccine bonus'.

From 10 May, indoor private home visiting is permitted (without masks or social distancing) in the following cases

Fully vaccinated people can meet indoors with other fully vaccinated people as long as there are no more than 3 households present

Fully vaccinated people can also meet indoors with unvaccinated people from a single household, provided that they are not at risk of severe illness and no more than 3 households are present.
