The first match Spurs fans can watch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and it's a massive one

A small proportion of Tottenham Hotspur supporters may be allowed to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for their highly-anticipated North London Derby clash with Arsenal on Saturday, December 5, should London be placed into Tier One or Two of the new Covid-19 restrictions.

This afternoon, Prime Minister Boris Johnson, addressing the House of Commons, has outlined his coronavirus plan for the winter months.

Johnson, addressing the Commons via video link as he continues to work from home due to recently being in contact with somebody who has tested positive for the virus, confirmed that England will come out of the national lockdown on December 2.

The Prime Minister has confirmed that should an area be placed under Tier One or Tier Two restrictions, fans will be allowed to return to outdoor sports arenas and stadiums in a reduced capacity.

Johnson told the House of Commons: "In Tier One and Tier Two spectator sports and business events will be free to resume inside and outside with capacity limits and social distancing providing more consistencies with theatres and concerts."

Though Johnson has confirmed that England will exit the national lockdown will end next week, he has revealed that each area will not be notified of the respective tier it will enter until later this week, potentially on Thursday.

But should London, who entered the second national lockdown of the year in Tier One, come out of the national restrictions in either Tier One or Tier Two, then some supporters will be allowed to return to stadiums from the first week in December, albeit in reduced capacities.

In Tier One areas, which act as the areas with the lowest risk of coronavirus being transmitted, stadiums will be allowed to welcome 4,000 spectators back in or fill 50% of their capacity, depending which figure works out lower.

In Tier Two areas, 2,000 spectators, or 50% of their capacity, once again depending which is lower, will be allowed to return.

But should London be plunged into Tier Three, supporters will be forced to wait to make their return.
