A prominent doctor has shared eight early symptoms of Omicron that "should never be ignored".
The latest strain of Covid-19 reportedly causes less severe illness than the previously dominant Delta variant, as well as different symptoms - some of which can appear very quickly.
Writing on Twitter, Dr Tony Leachon said that the first symptoms of the Covid-19 variant can manifest within two days of the initial infection.

He tweeted: "The first 8 Omicron symptoms that should never be ignored which can appear as quickly as 48 hours after you’ve been infected with Omicron."
Dr Leachon is a public health advocate, and former special adviser to the Philippines National Task Force against Covid-19.
The source of the information he shared is the ZOE COVID Study, a UK initiative that aims to track that symptoms of all of the Covid-19 variants.

According to the ZOE Covid Study, the following symptoms are associated with the early stages of an Omicron infection.
- Sneezing
- Fatigue
- Scratchy throat
- Runny nose
- Headache
- Lower back pain
- Night sweats and body aches
- Loss of appetite
