The First Descendant is introducing Arche Activity requirements to Onslaught and the new Bounty Operations mode with the May update, alongside Ultimate Esiemo, Valby rework, and more.
The May 21 update for The First Descendant marks the full launch of the Onslaught mode. In a developer livestream on May 19, Nexon showcased multiple improvements, such as the artillery support feature, pick up weapons, better rewards, and Arche Activity requirements.
To ensure everyone is properly geared when matchmaking Onslaught, every stage now has a minimum power requirement, indicated by Arche Activity. Arche Activity number displays the strength of your loadout, and you must meet that number before queuing (you can play private even if you don’t meet the requirements).
Arche Activity also applies to the new, smaller Bounty Operations mode. Bounty Operations tasks you with tracking down a commander with a Descendant of a specific attribute that rotates every day of the week. The rewards offer Trigger Modules tailored to the featured attribute.
The developer added that future content will include Arche Activity requirements as well. This should address community feedback where random players may not always be properly prepared for certain activities, especially as new bosses and dungeons get progressively harder.
With the May 21 update, the core farming loop is getting an update. The developer had previously revealed the changes to Amorphous Materials to make farming specific Descendants, weapons, and Fellows easier. In the new loop, earlier Descendants are now tied to Archive Shards, while the newer ones have dedicated Amorphous Materials that drop from Void Vessel, Sigma Sector, Axion, and beyond. Amorphous Materials now have a pity system. Moreover, you can open them directly from the consumables menu.
Other farming loop improvements include lowered Void Vessel and 400 percent dungeon difficulties to account for new players. While you farm 400 percent dungeons, you now only get Reactors that match the attribute and Arche type of that Descendant. For example, if you farm using Bunny, you only earn Electric Fusion and Electric Singular Reactors.
Apart from core overhauls and new modes, the May 21 update introduces Ultimate Esiemo, his story quest, Valby’s rework, improvements to Voltia and Enduring Legacy, new Trigger Modules, and new Transcendent Modules for Ines.
Ultimate Esiemo has two new explosive Transcendent Modules. One of them synergizes with melee weapons to create and detonate multiple bombs, while the other focuses on stacking bombs on a single target for high damage. Valby’s rework improves her core abilities, with the biggest change coming to Clean Up, during which you can now use other abilities (it’s also now a surfboard).
All that and more is coming to The First Descendant on May 21, with more updates to Onslaught scheduled for June and July.
