The First Descendant introduces long-awaited trading system, more Modules, and a new Descendant

The First Descendant is gearing up for its next major update after a rough time with the release of swords back at the beginning of October. Season 3, Episode 2 offers all you’d expect from a new season alongside a couple of new features.

In a blog post following the developer livestream on Oct. 30, Nexon detailed what’s coming to The First Descendant in Season 3, Episode 2, launching on Nov. 6. This includes a new Descendant, Harris, a new dungeon, Ultimate weapons, and a bunch of Modules, including two new Transcendent Modules for Hailey.

Harris was initially revealed a couple of months ago and is the next NPC to turn playable after Nell. She’s a Toxic DPS character who uses Tech and Fusion skills without MP. Gameplay-wise, Harris seems to be a close-range character, as she lunges at enemies using the Exo-Arms and creates a shield. Materials and blueprints to craft Harris will be available in the new Supermassive Receptor dungeon—the first Infiltration Operation in the Axion Plains.

As with any new Descendant, Harris comes with two Transcendent Modules. One leans more into ranged gameplay, while the other creates more protective barriers to increase survivability. Apart from Harris, Hailey also gets two new Modules that, paired with overall improvements to her kit, should give her the much-needed buff.

Many other Modules are coming to The First Descendant, from Trigger Modules to Ultimate Modules, and a new set of External Components, but the biggest addition is the introduction of Ancestors Modules. These are Transcendent-rarity, Descendant-exclusive Modules that you can install into any of the 10 regular slots and have up to four stats.

With all these new Modules, the trading system is one of the most exciting additions to the game. The trading system allows one-on-one Module trading using Caliber, the premium currency. Unfortunately, only existing Trigger Modules will be tradeable at first. The developer said that Ancestors Modules and newer Trigger Modules will join them in a later update.

Outside of new content, the developer addressed some of the feedback from the last update, namely, the sword performance, sword farming, pricing of the Event Pass, and the underwhelming Halloween skins. Improvements in these areas are coming in November and beyond.

In the meantime, you can look forward to all the new content and the launch of the Bayonetta collaboration on Thursday, Nov. 6.
