The financial issue Arsenal will have signing Philippe Coutinho laid bare by Kia Joorabchian

Philippe Coutinho’s agent has revealed the Brazilian wants to make a move back to the Premier League.

The former Liverpool star looks set to leave Barcelona this summer, having fallen out of favour at the Camp Nou with both the club and the fans.

Below-par performances last season led to him being sent out on loan to the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, who had the option to sign him permanently, but elected not to follow up on it.

That likely leaves Coutinho needing to look for a new club during this summer’s transfer window, and he’s been heavily linked with a return to the Premier League.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea have been mooted as possible destinations, with the Gunners perhaps most heavily linked with a move for the Brazil international.

And, speaking to talkSPORT, Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian confirmed his client is eager to make the move back to England, although any club would have to wait until Bayern’s involvement in the Champions League is over.

“He’s so focused on getting through the next stage of the Champions League,” Joorabchian said.

“He’s got a massive game, the club that owns him against the club he’s playing for, so he’s in a massive situation at the moment.

“He’s going to play Barcelona, he’s looking forward to it, he’s looking forward to winning the Champions League, I think they have a side that has the potential to be there.

“After the Champions League is finished, and whatever happens, then we’ll sit down.

“I haven’t even spoken to him about it actually. It could be that Barcelona could be the ultimate destination.

“He loves the Premier League, he wants to go to the Premier League, but finances, the numbers and the situation of Covid are all going to play a big part because he’s a big player with big numbers.”
