THE FINALS is gearing up for the closed qualifiers for The Grand Major 2025, and in the meantime, launches season eight. It brings major updates to some of the core systems, changing the game visually and competitively.
In season eight, Embark Studios overhauls what THE FINALS does best by introducing Smooth Destruction. It’s a more authentic and visually striking destruction with immersive features, like cranes falling through buildings instead of just landing on them and breaking a few small things. The updated system is bound to make the game more spectacular and create new ways to take advantage of dynamism in both casual and competitive play. And all this is happening right before the game’s first major esports tournament.

On the competitive side of things, the new season adds a feature integral to understanding the game and avenues for improvement: replays. The game now features immediate post-kill replays so you can see how you got eliminated, making it easier to understand what is happening in the Arena. The feature is still in beta, so not all devices will have access to it at launch (sorry, PS4 and Xbox Series X players).
Apart from major systemic additions, there’s the usual stuff, including two new weapons. P90 is the first SMG for the Medium build, which is deadly in close-quarter combat. The BFR revolver for the Heavy is quite the opposite – it’s a hard-hitting weapon for longer ranges.

While there’s no new map in season eight, there are some changes to the existing ones. Bernal is now a part of the Team Deathmatch mode, and suspended structures across maps like Monaco are larger to allow for more diverse play.
Then there are QoL changes, like anti-cheat improvements, background shader precompilation, post-match stat screen, mouse and keyboard support on consoles, and improved new player experience. As always, you can sign with one of the featured sponsors (Holtow or Trentila), level up the battle pass, and try out multiple limited-time events throughout the season.
