'The final straw!' - Arsenal fans can't believe what Granit Xhaka did against Burnley

Arsenal fans have taken to social media and reacted to Granit Xhaka's red card against Burnley.

The midfielder, who started the game alongside Mohamed Elneny in the engine room, was given his marching orders just before the hour mark at the Emirates Stadium.

Xhaka was initially booked following a coming together with Burnley midfielder Dwight McNeil.

But following a VAR check at the pitchside monitor, the yellow was upgraded to a red when it was spotted that Xhaka had grabbed Ashley Westwood by the neck.

Mikel Arteta's response to Xhaka's red card was to withdraw Alexandre Lacazette in place of Dani Ceballos.

It's the second time in recent weeks where an Arsenal player has been red-carded for violent conduct after Nicolas Pepe was adjudged to have headbutted Ezgjan Alioski in the 0-0 draw at Leeds United last month.

With a man less, the Gunners fell behind in the 72nd minute when captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang diverted a corner into his own net.

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong delivered his verdict on Xhaka's red card by suggesting the Gunners no.34 should be sold.

And for him to return on a free transfer.

"Sell Xhaka and get me on a free," he tweeted.

However, much of the response on social media has centred around some Arsenal fans demanding for the sale of Xhaka following his red card.

Take a look at what's been said on Twitter...

@HighburyTalk said: "No excuses for Xhaka there, it’s just plain stupidity."

@aadarshf1 said: "Don’t want Xhaka anywhere near the team again."

@thearsenalhelen said: "This is all on Arteta, Xhaka should not be starting and as a result you get this bravo."
