The figures involved if SFA want Slaven Bilic as next Scotland manager

The SFA will have to burst the bank to make Slaven Bilic Scotland boss.

The Croat has thrown his hat into the ring to replace the axed Alex McLeish as the national coach and become only the second foreign boss to manage Scotland.

But former West Ham boss Bilic won’t come cheap. He earned £50,000 a week in his last job with Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad – and took an entourage of SEVEN assistants.

That wasn’t enough to make him a success in Jeddah, however. He took charge of 17 games but won just four in his five months in the job.

Slaven Bilic wants the Scotland job as former Croatia boss throws hat into the ring

Bilic, 50, will not apply for the Hampden hot-seat but sources close to him say he is keen to return to management and the job interests him.

Ex-Croatian international stopper Bilic began his career in the dugout with Hadjuk Split before becoming manager of Croatia in 2006.

He was a success, winning 42 of his 65 games and leading them to the last eight at Euro 2008.

But Al-Ittihad are the third club to axe him, after West Ham and Lokomotiv Moscow.

Bilic – looking to follow Berti Vogts as a foreign boss of Scotland – faces competition from the likes of Steve Clarke, Derek McInnes, Alex Neil, David Moyes for the post.
