Bray Wyatt’s Firefly Fun House was another doozy as the hit children’s television show within a show returned with its host issuing a Universal Championship challenge to the winner of Seth Rollins vs. Braun Strowman.
Wyatt’s challenge confirms local advertising that initially sparked rumors of what seemed to be—and for all intents and purposes is—a premature world championship opportunity for the surging heel.
Should WWE have waited much longer to milk Wyatt’s new gimmick before he inevitably crossed paths with a world champion? Yes. Should WWE maybe have waited until SmackDown moves to Friday nights to give Wyatt a run at the WWE Championship? Yes. Should The Fiend have a Universal Championship match in what could only be his second in-ring appearance? No.
But with The Fiend undoubtedly WWE’s hottest character, a caveat which was pointed out by Wyatt humorously feeding money to friend-of-the-show Puppet Vince McMahon, it’s probably best for WWE to strike while the iron is hot given its long track record of hot acts flaming out, most recently evidenced by the Rusev Day debacle.

Though it would be nice to see Braun Strowman finally win his first world championship after demonstrating a degree of longevity as a top star, The Fiend currently has more momentum and potential as a money-drawing heel world champion than both Night of Champion foes combined.
Wyatt’s puppets, clothing, wrestling gear, mask and the like is a merchandiser’s dream come true, and sales for all of the above will only continue to skyrocket should WWE pull the trigger on a Fiend world championship run.
An altered, even grittier (possibly blood-stained) Universal Championship just in time Halloween season wouldn’t hurt either.
