The fee Rangers paid to sign Calvin Bassey from Leicester City

Rangers have completed the signing of Leciester City youngster Calvin Bassey on a four-year deal.

The 20-year-old penned a pre-contract with the Light Blues and will officially become a Rangers player when the transfer window officially opens.

The Athletic reports the Ibrox club had to pay a compensation fee of around £230,000 to acquire the defender's services.

Bassey becomes Rangers' second signing of the summer after Ianis Hagi sealed a permanent transfer last week.

And the left-sided defender says the move to Ibrox was an easy decision for him after seeing the likes of Joe Aribo make the successful trip from down south to the Scottish Premiership.

He told Rangers' website: “I’m really excited. Rangers are a massive club and I am just buzzing to get started. Ever since Rangers were in the picture and speaking to my agent, I was really excited and they were one of the clubs I thought highly of and I am just happy now to get started – I cannot wait!

“I feel Rangers is the right place for me because I have seen players such as Joe Aribo come from south of the border and do so well.

“I appreciate everything Leicester have done for me, and I just feel Rangers are offering me a massive platform to take my career to the next level and showcase my ability to the world."
