Slip yourself into this natty body by Martin Margiela, make yourself a piña colada, stick Club Tropicana on the stereo and lie back on a beach towel – even if you’re in the front room. Don’t you suddenly feel like you’re on holiday? If you’re lucky enough to be jetting off somewhere soon, though, this beach-scene print is top fun. Style up by chucking a denim shirt over it and sticking your tootsies into some flat sandals. £150, brownsfashion.com

Round two of the Stella/GapKids fashion fandango arrives this month and is rather a joy. New for this collection are two exclusive T-shirts promoting McCartney’s Meat Free Mondays environmental campaign: for the boys, there’s an oversized monochrome superhero print, while the girl’s features a leopard (left). Both are crafted from organic cotton. £19.50, gap.eu

If you’re a man who constantly faces the daily shirt conundrum – checks or stripes – then fret no more: Joe Casely-Hayford has designed this splendid striped shirt with a gingham bottom for John Lewis. (His debut range for the store also features collaborations with Barbour and John Smedley.) He has an OBE, graduated from Central St Martins and has dressed U2 – but don’t let that put you off. £80, johnlewis.com

The Briefing generally gives copycat fashion a dismissive pout – if the real thing is out of your budget, buy something else instead. But fashion is contrary and this week, Peacocks’s ode to Chloé is ringing some style bells – largely because it’s only a tenner, and channels the crossbody satchel trend quite marvellously. They’ve already sold out once, so don’t dilly dally. £10, peacocks.co.uk

If you haven’t swished yourself about in a cape, then you’re rather missing out, as our Tanya, shot on the streets of Paris for the streetpeeper blog, demos with this brilliant foray into insouciant cool. OK, so she looks a trifle like she’s just stepped out of a magazine shoot where the vibe was to determinedly mix cape swish with sharp tailoring, plus a bag and some perky glasses. In many, many circumstances, this could verge on being a tad too much and yet it is cleverly anchored by a pair of ripped grey jeans. Two things to get excited about: 1) this is a masterclass in how to roll up your jeans and 2) the ribbed-socks-with-heels look can be a modern-day marvel
