Isn’t this a shamelessly upbeat handbag with its gold twinkle, orange flash and flourish of sexy faux-snake? It has a detachable longer strap too, so you can wear across the body during the day, while at night time it is begging to be hugged (a more enthusiastic way to clutch).

We have always liked Arctic Monkey Alex Turner’s understated and effortless style of trench coats, loafers, relaxed blazers, faded denim jackets, straight (not spray-on) jeans. Lately it has got looser, particularly in the hair department, a likely reflection of his band’s more wayward sound. We can’t help but ponder if the do is not getting a bit too “alternative” sixth-former, though? That said, we approve of his bold blue shirt choice and are smitten by Humbug. Totally. Classy co-ordination is certainly associated with the skirt-suit revival, as seen on the autumn catwalks of Prada, Max Mara and Lanvin. This boucle tweed version by Jigsaw is a decent place to start the non-clashing experiment. Team with a structured handbag.
