Sometimes sartorial prayers are answered just in the nick of time for front-row posing. You want something minimal, brilliantly designed with an understated pricetag. Bingo! Asos Black totally gets the nod. Finely tailored with a dash of rock’n’roll, this jacket sums up the new micro collection, which is all a bit reminiscent of grandiose pop duo Hurts: no bad thing.

Prediction: at fashion week parties, expect a surge in LRD appearances. Red is the current season’s new accent shade – and an excellent way of adding some chilli-style heat to your wardrobe. This Cos dress is plain yet powerful and crucially will work perfectly under that new camel coat you’ve just invested in. Obvs.

A smörgåsbord of menswear will finish off London fashion week on Wednesday. Cue the 11th MAN show – a showcase for upcoming names and labels. This season one of the rising stars is Felipe Rojas Llanos, an MA graduate from fashion institution Central St Martins whose clothes are exclusively stocked by Browns. The Chilean-born designer, brought up in Sweden, cites 1950s Balenciaga womenswear shapes and Helmut Lang as influences. Expect shiny techy fabrics, colour, pared-back detailing and an emphasis on a loose balloony silhouette.

Here’s a modern take on the car boot fair. Mercedes-Benz is hosting a live online auction dubbed the “car bootique”, which will run during fashion week. With donations of one-off pieces or specifically designed goods by the crème de la crème of the London scene, this is a chance to bag yourself something rather collectable. There are 85 lots, new things will be launched daily and designers include Matthew Williamson, Christopher Kane (his T-shirt is pictured) and Margaret Howell. Proceeds go to Fashion East and Laureus. Go!

With London fashion week in full swing, it seems only fitting that Dame Viv, attending the new Selfridges shoe department launch, should have put together this week’s outfit of choice. Like much of Westwood’s career, it’s likely to split opinion but that, dear people, is the joy of British sartorial eccentricity. This gown, obviously of her own crafting, is – how shall we put this? – quite racy, what with its slit and cutout details. The swoosh of an orange updo and holding her specs like a handbag are obviously the icing on the cake. Photograph: Gareth Cattermole/Getty Images Europe
