This mini cocktail frock made from taffeta and featuring a velvet bow belt is taken from the brand new Boutique by Jaeger collection, which launches this week. It’s a younger affair than you might have come to expect from the 126-year-old label. Think lipstick prints and leather shorts. To celebrate, there will be a pop-up store opening this Saturday on Carnaby Street in London, which will also house a Rough Trade listening post, vintage jewellery and fashion books.

Stop the eye-rolling please. Yes, it’s mid-August and this is clearly a woollen garment, but frankly there is little point in buying any more summery stuff now, unless it is actual beachwear. This smashing cardigan is by an LA-based knitwear label called Sweater360, which is brand new to the UK this August. So, it is best to see this purchase as an early dabble in autumn’s a-bit-countryish-innit trend.

Pink and pearls could be too sweet, but because this George jumper is cropped, somehow it swerves the ick factor. It’s also a trifle Mad Men, which is a big fashion look for autumn. If the idea of a cropped knit seems vaguely ludicrous and with far too much showing-off-your-stomach potential, then just wear it over a white shirt. Full skirt optional.

The Marc by Marc label is known for its perky quirks. Cue this fine specimen taken from the new autumn/winter range of timepieces (fashion speak for watches). The combo of classical chunky bracelet and colourful illustrations of animals is typically Marc. Note: for fans of animal-inspired fashion, Katie Hillier (one-time Jacobs collaborator) is selling her necklace range, which includes squirrel and sausage dog designs, at Dover Street Market.
