The Fashion Awards 2025: Cate Blanchett, Sienna Miller and Lily Allen steal the show

The Fashion Awards returned this December, a first this year for the new British Fashion Council CEO Laura Weir — and did not disappoint.

After an A-list crowd counting an expecting Sienna Miller, wearing Givenchy by Sarah Burton, Lily Allen, wearing champagne silk Valentino, and Cate Blanchett, also in Givenchy by Sarah Burton, braved a typically wet, wild, and for 2025 navy, red carpet, the ceremony rolled on inside the Royal Albert Hall.

First on the night’s roster was the Isabella Blow Award, presented by Gwendoline Christie, along with Simone Rocha and Craig Green. The award went to Dover Street Market, accepted by industry figures Adrian Joffe and Dickon Bowden, who thanked the visionary leadership of Rei Kawakubo.

Dame Anna Wintour then presented LVMH heiress Delphine Arnault with an award for her "outstanding contribution" to fashion, and her "championing" of emerging talent. It set the tone for what was a high stakes night on the international fashion stage.

Watching from a sea of white-tableclothed round tables was Mick Jagger, Rita Ora wearing Tom Ford by Haider Ackermann, model Alex Consani in a McQueen frock, and Alexa Chung in sculptural Chloé. Host Colman Domingo wooed the audience, welcoming to the stage presenters including Sharon Stone, Iman and Blanchett.

When it came to awards, the night confirmed the industry’s current hierarchies: the top prize of Designer of the Year went to Jonathan Anderson, for his work at Dior and his own label. This marks his third consecutive win — a commendable hat-trick which sees him at the very pinnacle of the business.

In the other categories: Menswear Designer of the Year was awarded to Grace Wales Bonner, now newly appointed creative director of Hermès menswear, while Womenswear Designer of the Year went to the Sarah Burton of Givenchy.

Awards for emerging and influential talent also featured prominently. Anok Yai was named Model of the Year, and took the opportunity to speak out around the atrocities unfolding in her home country of Sudan, while Dilara Findikoglu received The Vanguard Award.

Performances by Raye, in custom Ferrari, and Tems, in a navy embellished gown, closed a ceremony that combined industry recognition with the traditional grandeur of London’s biggest fashion night out.
