Defender Bryan Wharton has questioned the attitude of the Albion Rovers flops who were embarrassed by a Scottish Cup draw against Fort William.
It was one of the biggest cup upsets in Rovers’ 100-year history at Cliftonhill as the Highland League minnows, who finished on negative points last season,
Fuming centre-back Wharton said the players could have no excuses and deserved the fury of the fans at the final whistle.
The 29-year-old said: “There were a lot of angry boys at full-time, and so there should be. There was a lot of words said in the dressing room; it’s just not good enough.
“We didn’t have the right attitude, and we didn’t play as a team.
“The fans have every right to be angry and let us know how angry they are after that.
“We want to go out there and do them proud. They pay their money, follow the team and pay the wages. I can’t argue with it.
“Some of the boys will be annoyed by it but we all have to look at ourselves and ask why we are getting these results.
“It wasn’t good enough and they have every right to be frustrated. We need to make sure they are not let down like that again. I know how angry they are, I was raging as well.
“There are players in the dressing room, like Will Graham, who would run through a brick wall for the team.
“If every player had that attitude we wouldn’t be in this position.”
If Rovers win the replay they will earn a derby clash with Airdrie.
