The second series finale of BBC2’s serial killer drama The Fall had 2.5 million viewers on the edge of their seats on Thursday night.
The Northern Ireland-set thriller, starring Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan concluded with a feature-length episode, which posted a 12.7% share of the audience from 9pm.
This was the same number that tuned in for the series’s first episode in November, but 1.2 million down on the audience for the conclusion of the first run last year.
On a night with no runaway ratings winner ITV’s A Night of Heroes - The Military Awards, hosted by Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden, marched to 2.6 million viewers and a 12.3% share from 8.30pm.
The final episode of the seventh series of Channel 4’s 24 Hours in A&E corralled 2.2 million bedside spectators, a 10.7% share - the network’s highest-rating show of the evening.
BBC1’s Apple’s Broken Promises, a Panorama special on how the technology company treats its workers, picked up 2.2 million viewers and a 10.8% share from 9pm.
The Fall was preceded by the penultimate episode of MasterChef: the Professionals, which carved out 2.7 million viewers – a 12.8% share and BBC2’s best performer on the night.
