The Falcons celebrated their win over the Eagles like it was the Super Bowl

I’d like to congratulate the Atlanta Falcons on their Week 2 Super Bowl victory. At least that was what the postgame scene in the locker room looked like.

The Falcons and the Eagles played another down-to-the-wire game on Sunday. And this time, Atlanta came away with the 24-20 win.

Given the rough showing in the season opener at Minnesota, this was a much-needed win for a Falcons team that had been immediately written off after that Vikings loss. So, I get it. This win added validation to a much-maligned defensive unit, and Matt Ryan was able to rally back from some terrible interceptions. Nobody was going to blame the Falcons for being pumped about an exciting win against the Eagles. But perhaps this was a bit too much …

Yeah, the Falcons held a full-blown dance party in the locker room after the win. There was also Matt Ryan — wearing a backwards cap — hugging teammates. It looked like a Super Bowl celebration.

All that was missing was the champagne.

Believe it or not: The Falcons still have 14 more regular season games left to play. They’ll travel to Indianapolis on Sunday to face the Colts.
