The "F1" movie on Apple TV: Streaming date, how to watch, and what’s next for F1 fans

If you've been waiting to finally stream Brad Pitt's popular movie, F1, on Apple TV, then you're in luck. The lights will be going out on Friday 12 December. The record-breaking Formula 1 production will debut on Apple TV's subscription service following its hugely successful theatrical run.

What is the F1 movie?

The F1 movie is Apple Original Films' big-budget racing drama directed by Joe Kosinski and starring Brad Pitt as fictional former F1 driver Sonny Hayes, alongside Damson Idris, Javier Bardem, and Kerry Condon.

The movie, which grossed $631million at the box office worldwide, follows Hayes as he returns to the F1 grid with failing team APXGP as it fights to survive and score its first race win.

Filmed during real grand prix weekends with bespoke cars, it has become not only Pitt's most successful film to date, but also the highest-grossing sports film of all time.

When and where can you watch the F1 movie?

From 12 December, the F1 movie is included as part of the Apple TV subscription, found on the Apple TV app

If you couldn't wait, the movie was already available to watch on Apple TV's store, Prime Video, as well as a number of other services. But this is the first time the movie will be able to be streamed as part of a subscription.

The F1 movie is available to watch via the Apple TV app on the following devices:

  • iPhone, iPad and Mac
  • Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD boxes
  • Many smart TVs (Samsung, LG, Sony and others)
  • PlayStation and Xbox consoles
  • Streaming sticks like Roku and Amazon Fire TV, plus some set-top boxes

Just make sure the device supports the Apple TV app in your region and you're signed in with an active Apple TV subscription.

What's next after the F1 movie?

The F1 movie is just the beginning of what's to come from Apple in respect of F1. The technology company has secured broadcast rights for F1 in the United States from the 2026 season.

With a five-year deal worth what Motorsport.com understands to be $140million annually, Apple is teasing the implementation of its full ecosystem, as well as its own technology to improve the viewing experience for fans of the series.
