The eye-opening points tally Leeds United would have in a Championship Expected Goals table

Leeds United, according to an alternative league table, would have been on 109 points at this stage of the season - 25 more than they are currently on.

The Expected Goals league table, via Experimental 3-6-1, is based on the quality of chances each team creates throughout the campaign, rather than the actual goal tally.

The idea is to try and give a fairer answer to how each side is doing, based on how a hypothetical average team would have done in the same circumstances.

These last three matches are set to be nerve-racking ones for the Leeds supporters, but if this table was the reality, they would have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Marcelo Bielsa's team, according to this table, would have been on 109 points - 25 more than their current tally of 84 - and it would have already surpassed Reading’s record total of 106 points during the 2005/06 season.

Brentford, who are currently third, would actually be above West Brom on 92 points, 14 more than the Bees have in reality.

The Baggies would be in third-place, but a massive 11 points behind Thomas Frank’s side, who would have already clinched promotion to the Premier League.

Wigan Athletic, who have of course received a 12-point deduction, would be firmly in the play-off positions, eight points adrift of West Brom.

Stoke City have struggled all season, and in this alternative table, life would be much easier for them, being a point below the Latics.

Sheffield Wednesday in sixth, and Fulham in seventh, would complete the play-off positions with three games remaining.

Bottom of the table would be Luton Town, who would have 14 points less than their total of 44 right now.

One of the biggest shocks is a 12-place drop for Bristol City, who would have 31 less points than they currently have - the largest points difference from any side.

Charlton Athletic would be in 22nd-place, with Derby County, who have been chasing the play-offs in reality, in 21st-place.
