The extent of traffic tailbacks as gas works close lane near busy Nottingham junction

Pictures show the extent of traffic tailbacks caused by roadworks taking place near busy Nottingham city centre roundabouts. A lane has been closed in Gregory Boulevard, located off The Forest Recreation Ground, near the roundabout for the B682 Sherwood Rise and the Goose Fair Island that links to the A60 Mansfield Road.

Pictures taken on Wednesday afternoon (June 28) showed the area to be heavily congested. The roadworks have also caused some delays to a number of Nottingham City Transport buses.

In a tweet on Tuesday (June 27), NCT wrote: “Roadworks at the bottom of Sherwood Rise, near to the junction of Gregory Boulevard, have resulted in non-moving traffic in the area. Yellow 68-71 are therefore diverting toward the city via Haydn Road and Hucknall Road.”

According to the highways agency Via East Midlands the Cadent Gas works began on June 26 and are due to be complete June 30.
