The extent of damage to car which hit tree and caught fire

A shocking new picture has emerged showing the extent of the damage to a car which crashed into a tree and caught fire.

Fire crews had to put out the fire which ripped through the abandoned vehicle.

The car was spotted in Queen's Avenue, in Gedling, at around 10.15pm on Sunday, October 10.

A picture taken at the scene shows the car with damage to its front, where it appears to have hit the tree, and fire damage spanning the length of the vehicle.

Eyewitnesses say the car was found near Pheonix park and the incident is believed to have occurred late on Sunday night.

One eyewtiness told Nottinghamshire Live: "The car's still there in Gedling at the top of Queen's Avenue on the corner across from Phoenix park - it happened last night at about 10.15pm."

A spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue said: "Firefighters from Carlton Fire Station attended a vehicle fire on Phoenix Avenue, Gedling yesterday, Sunday, October 10 just after half past 10 in the evening.

"Crews used two breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and small tools to put out the fire, however the vehicle was destroyed."
