The 'experienced' dealer who advertised his drugs as the 'best in Bury'

An 'experienced' dealer caught peddling crack cocaine and heroin for a second time is beginning another spell behind bars.

Numan Javed, 24, sent out texts on a burner phone advertising his drugs as the 'best in Bury'.

Javed has now been locked up for four-and-a-half years.

Minshull Street Crown Court heard that Javed came to the attention of police on Kestrel Drive, on Bury's Dicky Bird estate.

A resident had called police saying that Javed and another man were outside his front door.

Javed said they had gone to 'remonstrate' with the resident over the alleged theft of a mobile phone.

A Kia car was parked nearby, which Javed denied any connection with. The keys had been discarded nearby.

Within the car police found 127 wraps of heroin, and 74 wraps of cocaine, with a potential street value of £1,880.

On the back seat, there was also a black rucksack containing a set of scales which had white powder on them, later found to be cocaine.

Javed was arrested, and while he was in custody his burner phone received a number of messages and calls.

When officers examined the phone they found text messages sent out advertising drugs, which said 'best in Bury'.

He later pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to supply heroin, and one count of possession with intent to supply cocaine.

At the time of his arrest in November last year, Javed had been released on licence for a previous sentence for drug dealing.

In March 2018 he was jailed for two-years-and-eight-months, again for dealing heroin and crack cocaine.

The court was told that Javed was dealing to work off debts.

Javed's lawyer Steven Sullivan said the defendant had not profited himself from the dealing, that he was instead having his debt reduced.

Mr Sullivan said the drugs were not Javed's own enterprise, and that he was living a 'modest life' unlike some dealers higher up the chain.

Sentencing, Judge Mark Savill described Javed, of New Cateaton Street, Bury, as an 'experienced dealer in class A drugs'.

"People need to understand that severe punishments will be handed to those foolish enough to involve themselves in this activity," the judge said.
