The expected Bristol City team for Birmingham City: Decisions to make on Baker, O'Dowda, Walsh

Bristol City head to the Midlands looking for an eighth win on the road of their Championship campaign.

If the Robins' home form - five losses in a row - has spiralled, away form is markedly different: two wins on the spin on their last travels, with a trip to Birmingham City who have won just three times at St Andrew's in the league next.

Aitor Karanka's team are in desperate need of points as they teeter just one place above the drop zone, with Rotherham three points behind them but with three games in hand.

As we reach the business end of the campaign - 10 games left for both sides after Saturday's game - Bristol City have to still wrap up a place in the Championship next campaign, at the least, and manager Nigel Pearson is looking to get the West Country club moving in the right direction once again.

Pearson has decisions to make over the quartet of returning senior players from injury who played against QPR U23s in midweek, with the manager explaining that a late assessment would be made on Callum O'Dowda, Nathan Baker, Marley Watkins and Liam Walsh.

"What we've achieved this week in their recovery pathways has been very, very good - and it's important that those players feel able to contribute the way that we would like. And I've not discounted them being involved this weekend. We'll see how it goes," said the 57-year-old ahead of Saturday's game. All four have subsequently trained this week.

Walsh could be included in the matchday 20 players after completing 90 minutes in midweek, while the other three only played for 65 minutes.

Meanwhile Adam Nagy and Zak Vyner will be assessed on their head knocks from the weekend before, as according to the FA's Graduated Return to Play Protocols for players in an Enhanced Care setting.

Kasey Palmer has become a father again late this week and he could be absent because of the birth of his son.

Pearson may also shake up the previously unchanged team after two defeats on the trot.

Birmingham City have a fully fit squad to choose from but may switch from the 3-5-2 used at Oakwell back to their previously successful 4-1-4-1, which had produced positive results against Sheffield Wednesday, QPR and Huddersfield Town.

Wingers Jeremie Bela and Ivan Sanchez may be recalled, if that happens.

Predicted Bristol City XI: Bentley; Vyner, Mariappa, Kalas; Hunt, Nagy, Palmer, Lansbury, Sessegnon; Wells, Diedhiou
