Syfy's space drama The Expanse has just been acquired by Netflix as an original series and it's going international.

The hugely successful series, which has earned itself comparisons to massively popular shows such as Game of Thrones and Battlestar Galactica, recently brought Kiwi Frankie Adams on board.

The former Shortland Street star will appear in the upcoming second season of the show in her first Hollywood role as Bobbie Draper.

Kiwi fans will be able to catch up on season one, with the full season coming to Netflix on November 3, with the second season due next year.

The 10-episode epic was developed by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby based on the international best-selling book series of the same name.

The story is set 200 years in the future after mankind has colonised the solar system, and is a mixture of a missing person, conspiracy and space drama.
