The excellent Cardiff City player ratings as captain superb and midfielder transforms team

Alex Smithies 7

Blustery conditions and commanded his box really well. Had little to do from a save-making perspective.

Mark McGuinness 7

Looks more impressive every time you see him. Growing into the shirt. Should have scored a header from close range but sent it over.

Sean Morrison 9 (star man)

A welcome return for the skipper. Hardly put a foot wrong all afternoon. Slotted in seamlessly, as you would expect. Great for him to get the winner with an excellently-taken header.

Curtis Nelson 7

A much-improved performance. Defensively he was very sound and wasted fewer balls when in possession.

Perry Ng 8

More evidence of him getting back to his best. Provided a pinpoint cross for Colwill's goal and protected the ball well. Very good outing.

Marlon Pack 7

Dovetailed brilliantly with Ralls in the middle. Stuck to his defensive work and was very good in possession.

Joe Ralls 8

He really purred in that engine room. Transforms this Cardiff side. Linked-up play, brought calm in the middle and added another dimension.

Ryan Giles 7

Was a constant outlet on the left. Produced lots of excellent crosses which Moore just couldn't capitalise on. Then sent in a stunning ball for Morrison's winner. He's such a weapon out there.

Rubin Colwill 8

Just has that X-factor. His first touch is a joy to watch, the way he uses his body to get rid of his markers. Nice, accomplished header for the goal, too.

James Collins 6

Clearly wanted to prove a point against his old side and did a good job leading the line. Pressed hard and covered so much ground.

Kieffer Moore 7

Looked really up for it. Chucked himself about, won headers and was unlucky not to score. His link-up play and hold-up play were important all afternoon.

Substitutes

Mark Harris (on for Colwill 71) 7 - Was heavily involved when he came on and was a positive change. A solid outing for the Welshman.

Isaak Davies (on for Collins 81) 6 - More minutes under his belt and stuck to his task well late on, causing the odd problem or two.
