The Everton players returning from overseas as clubs wait for training go-ahead

The Everton players who left the country early in the Premier League suspension are now returning to the UK.

Richarlison, Bernard, Lucas Digne and Cuco Martina were understood to have been among those given permission to leave the UK and spend lockdown abroad.

But they have now returned after being 'encouraged' to by the club as plans for the restart of the Premier League - and a return to training - gather pace.

The Premier League are committed to finishing the season and are hoping for games to start up again next month.

Finch Farm, however, remains off limits to first-team training but some rival top flight sides have re-opened their headquarters for players to work on fitness, but under tight restrictions around numbers and social distancing.

Everton's squad are still training from home under the supervision and monitoring of the club's medical and sports science staff.

But Richarlison, who returned from Brazil at the beginning of the month, Bernard, Digne and Martina are now back in the country in preparation for a potential return to training.

It has been reported that all arrivals into the UK must go through two weeks of 'quarantine' and so clubs had been recalling those who had gone overseas during lockdown.

The Premier League has been suspended since March 13 because of the coronavirus crisis, with Everton's last game before the break coming five days earlier at Chelsea.

Carlo Ancelotti's side have nine league games outstanding, including against Liverpool, but should the season resume then it will be played behind closed doors, with clubs also discussing the use of neutral venues.

Goodison, at this stage, is not expected to be on the list of approved venues in that instance.
