Some potential details for upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe epic The Eternals have been revealed.
The 2020 film will focus on the titular immortal race, created by the God-like Celestials to protect humanity from their evil counterparts, the Deviants.
The film will have an all-star cast including Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Salma Hayek, and Kit Harington.
However, some apparent leaks revealed on Reddit have suggested we could be in for some other major Marvel Comics cameos.
As ever, considering the source of these apparent leaks, we do advise you to take with a pinch of salt.
*Potential spoiler warning for The Eternals*
According to a user on Reddit, leaks on 4chan have potentially revealed some major plot details for The Eternals.
One of these is that the epic scope of the film will see "numerous flashbacks to the past" of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It reads: "We will see ancient civilizations both on Earth and in space. We will see a young Odin and a young Thanos."
Odin is, of course, the iconic ruler of Asgard and father of Thor, played in old age by Anthony Hopkins in the Thor movies.
In Marvel Comics, Thanos is an Eternal from the planet Titan but carries Deviant genes, giving him the purple physical appearance of the antagonistic race.
The Reddit user shared of the apparent premise for the film: "Thousands of years ago, the Celestials came to Earth and experimented on humans, creating Deviants and Eternals. Deviants are purple, mindless monsters, and Eternals are humanoid gods with magical abilities.
"For years, both species fought for dominance in the cosmos. The main planet for Eternals is Olympia, after Titan fell. Eternals are forbidden from having children or mingling with humans. Eternals think lowly of humans and deem themselves superior."
However, the supposed spoilers reveal that the Eternal known as Sersi (Gemma Chan) meddles with Asgardian magic and upsets the balance of reality in the name of her love for a human, Black Knight/Dane Whitman (Kit Harington), prompting her to fight to unite her people and undo the damage done.
It is also suggested that the chief antagonistic presence will be the extremist Eternal warrior Gilgamesh (Don Lee).
As ever, considering the source of these spoilers, take them with a pinch of salt, but it does sound very exciting, nonetheless!
The Eternals is released in cinemas on November 6, 2020.
