Eternals: Leaked photo shows Marvel's newest superhero team assembled

Fans have finally been offered a first look at Marvel’s highly anticipated film Eternals.

Details of the forthcoming superhero movie have been kept under wraps, but its ensemble cast has welcomed comparisons to the studio’s major franchises Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers.

Yesterday (5 November), an image of the movie’s marketing material was leaked on Twitter.

The French-language poster pictured in the photo shows the cast in full costume. Although the actors’ faces are blurred, fans have been able to decipher who’s who thanks to their unique costumes.

Ikaris (who will be played by Game of Thrones’s Richard Madden) stands at the centre, with Gemma Chan’s Sersi to his left and Salma Hayek’s Ajak on his right. Angelina Jolie’s Thena stands glowing in gold armour beside Hayek and Barry Keoghan’s Druig.

Plot details for Eternals are sparse but the official synopsis reveals that the movie will take place following the events of Avengers: End Game and will see the Eternals take on “mankind’s most ancient enemy, The Deviants”.

Other actors set to star in the Chloé Zhao-directed superhero adventure are Kumail Nanijani as Kingo, Ma Dong-Seok as Gilgamesh, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, and Brian Tyree Henry portraying Phastos.

In September, rumours on the internet circulated claiming that former One Direction member Harry Styles would be appearing in the film as Starfox. However, this has not yet been confirmed.

Eternals was scheduled for release in December this year, however, due to the pandemic, the film has been pushed back until 5 November 2021.
