The ES Shopping Shortlist: What to shop, see and know in August 2025

With a full-time job, busy social life, and social media feed to update, it’s challenging to keep up with all the newness out there.

That’s why we’ve created The Shopping Shortlist: a monthly need-to-know dispatch of the latest and greatest releases that should be on your radar for the month ahead.

Here at Standard Shopping, we’ve got our ears to the ground and our noses pressed up against the digital shop fronts, always looking for the latest fashion, events, and food and drink - so you don’t have to. From sell-out collections to limited edition collaborations, with exclusive events, fresh launches and new store unveilings in between, we’ve got you covered so you don’t miss out on a thing.

We step into August with news of Charli xcx’s latest collab with Converse. The party girl has teamed up with the iconic shoe brand to give Chucks a brat makeover, but if you want them, you’ll only have a few days to grab them before they’re gone for good. This month sees a slew of parties in the pipeline as we race towards the last Bank Holiday before Christmas (I know). Whether you’re headed to All Points East in London’s Victoria Park or looking to join the Notting Hill parade, we’ve got the outfits to help you party in style.

And, of course, there’s the usual smorgasbord of glittering new launches, exciting collabs and epic shopping drops that will make this August shine.

If you’re ever at a loss for something to do on the weekend or want to scratch the retail therapy itch, we’ll keep this page updated throughout the month; best to bookmark it so you’ve always got the insider’s guide at your fingertips.

Don’t forget to sign up for the newsletter version of this Shortlist for a weekly digest covering everything from fashion and furniture to tech and travel.

Casa do Frango

Have you been to Casa do Frango yet? The Portuguese spot reinvents everything you thought you knew about piri-piri.

From premium small plates such as Iberico Pork Croquettes, Chilli Garlic Prawns and Salgadinhos, to the signature Frango Piri Piri chicken grilled over coals and Standard Shopping’s favourite side dish, Casa Rice, infused with smoky chorizo, crispy chicken skin, peas and fried plantain, the choices are varied without being overwhelming. There’s truly something for everyone.

The house cocktails are crowd-pleasers too, with opulent yet refreshing options like a Piri Piri margarita or a Melon and Basil Martini.

To stay true to its Portuguese roots, Casa do Frango grills solely on wood charcoal and places sharing dishes family-style in the middle of the table, where everyone can reach them. All the meat served at Casa comes from HG Walter, a family-run butcher shop that’s been going for five decades.

There are locations around the capital, including just off Regent Street, but if you’d rather the grub came to you, you can order on Deliveroo too.
