The epic last-minute try that helped Wales beat the best team in the world

An epic late try by Joe Goodchild helped Wales secure a dramatic 21-19 win over USA at the Hong Kong Sevens.

The Americans are ranked number one in the world and boast stars such as Perry Baker and Carlin Isles, with the latter scoring a hat-trick, but Goodchild's late try from deep shocked the US.

Wales had taken a surprise lead in the first minute when Ben Cambriani crashed over and Luke Treharne converted.

But the Eagles hit back through Isles’ breakaway try down the left and under the posts.

Wales surged back in front with Treharne converting his own try only for Isles to cross twice to put the United States ahead.

But Goodchild crossed late on, with Treharne nailing a nervy conversion to give Wales a shock win and send the Hong Kong Stadium crowd wild.

It wasn't to be enough for Wales to make it out of the pool stages after defeats to England and Spain left them competing in the Bowl.

Cardiff Blues' big new signings are not really what they needed as their true weakness is exposed
