Every footballing generation has its signature hairdo. From Kevin Keegan’s bubble perm to Chris Waddle’s mullet, the style of bonce becomes inseparable from the era itself. So it is with some delight that Guardian fashion noted that three of the England squad wore a flat-top style during Saturday’s game against Slovenia. Danny Welbeck undoubtedly kicked off the trend – the Arsenal player was wearing the Kid ’N’ Play style a couple of seasons ago but with Nathaniel Clyne and Raheem Sterling making their presence felt alongside him at the weekend, the trend was impossible to ignore. Not only do we approve of the England squad looking as if they’re about the throw the greatest house party of the 90s, we hope captain Wayne Rooney and his regrowth joins suit.
