I loved your editorial (23 October) celebrating the work of the late author and illustrator Judith Kerr. I so enjoyed reading her stories to my daughter when she was young, and it pleases me to say this love has been passed on to my granddaughter, now four-and-a-half.
The Tiger Who Came to Tea is a classic. My granddaughter already loves the tiger: she has two pictures framed of the tiger in her bedroom, she has seen a theatre show and the local museum had an exhibition. An early present to her was a full set of the Mog books, and a running family joke is that I have always liked Mog stories more than my daughter did.
When she was young, I would always try to read a Mog to her at bedtime, when often she wanted to hear something else. Sadly, we missed going to a Mog show at the Old Vic this summer, due to another commitment, but I will be on the case for future shows.
The world would be such a better place if there were more Judith Kerrs – a wonderful writer, artist and human being. From a huge Mog fan, rest in peace, Judith.
