The End of the F***ing World‘s Jessica Barden has shared an image of a finished script for the show’s second series, teasing out its return.
The dark comedy-drama premiered on Channel 4 in October 2017 and became an international success after being released on Netflix in January last year.
In the series, Barden plays Alyssa, a rebellious, smart teenager who runs away with James (Alex Lawther), one of her classmates who believes he’s a psychopath and initially decides to make Alyssa his first murder victim.
Barden posted the photo of the finished script on her Instagram account on Monday, writing next to the picture: “Merry Christmas. See you soon @teotfw” and tagging the programme’s official Instagram account.
That account, in turn, answered with: “And a happy f***ing new year.”
The image shared by Barden shows the first page of the finished script for the first episode of the second series.
It bears the name if Charlie Covell, who wrote the first series of the show, and the mention “based on original characters by Chuck Forsman”. Forsman wrote the graphic novel on which the programme is based.
Channel 4 and Netflix revealed in August 2018 that they would be renewing the show for a second series – an announcement met with relief and excitement from fans after the first series ended with a dramatic cliffhanger.
